Sabang Beach

Seconds from your doorstep, Sabang Beach is an awe inspiring expansive stretch of sand facing east over the majestic Pacific. Famous among surfers, recently declared as the "Birthplace of Philippine Surfing", the waters of this sprawling shore provide frequent waves that make it one of the best surfing spots in the country. Surfboards, and surfing lessons are offered by the local surfer along the beach.

Sabang Beach is also know as the best place in the Province of Aurora to delight in the beautiful sunrise.

Ermita Hill

A short 5.7km senic drive from Duon Baler you can be on top of the world... Well not quite but the panoramic views from Emita are stunning. With a variety of viewing decks, you can choose to look back over Sabang Beach or north over the Pacific.. A favirote spot for locals and tourist alike.

Legend has it, Ermita Hill served as a sanctuary for 6 families after a catastrophic Tsunami -Tromba Marina- hit Baler on December 27th 1735.

Digusit Beach and Rock Formations-Aniao Islets-

Continuing along the coast from Ermita Hill a short drive brings you to Digusit Beach. Popular for picture-taking, this picturesque coral beach features pebbly coral sand & unique rock formations know locally as "lukso-lukso"

A great spot for a picnic or a casual swim where the waves are typically smaller than those at Sabang Beach.

Baler Lighthouse

A little further down the road you'll find the Baler Lighthouse.

After a short but steep hike you're rewarded with stunning 180 degree panoramic views from Sabang Beach in Baler Bay all the way out to the open Pacific. The lighthouse which is now out of operation, sits on the hills of Brgy Sitio Tibag. For the adventurous traveller you can climb the steps of the lighthouse for an even better vantage point.

Hanging Bridge

Only 2.6km from Duon Baler, you can access the Baler Hanging Bridge. The Hanging Bridge is situated along Zabali Road and connects the barangays of Tibang and Sabang. Used by locals daily who commute between the two barangays, it has now become a major attraction in Baler.

The bridge consists of steel cables and wood planks and bounces a little while you walk on it. From here you can enjoy a refreshing breeze, obtain panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and river mouth. For photographers, it's one of the best places to catch the golden hour.

Museo de Baler and Quezon Memorial Park

A casual 1km walk from Duon Baler will take you to Quezon Memorial Park and the Museo de Baler. A statue of Manuel L. Quezon centres the park surrounded by large trees and benches to sit and relax. The Museo is located at the rear of the park behind the statue.

Manuel L. Quezon was the first Filipino to head a government in the Philippines and is considered the second president of the Philippines. The Museo is ripe with Baler history, native culture and a great way to spend an afternoon.

Doña Aurora House

A few steps from Quezon Park -at the corner of Rizal and San Luis- will land you at Doña Aurora House. This is the family house of the late President Quezon's wife, Doña Aurora.

The province of Aurora's name sake, and beloved by Filipinos, she was know for her involvement with humanitarian activities and served as the first Chairperson of the Philippine National Red Cross. She also championed Filipino women's right to vote.

A replica of the ancestral home, you'll find more history and artifacts to help you get a glimpse of Baler's past.

Ditumabo Falls -Mother Falls-

Located in San Luis, cascading from the highlands of the Sierra Madre Moutains, Ditumabo Falls is a 42 meter- 140 ft.- water fall and the highest "Mother" falls in the province of Aurora.

A 30 minute moderate hike over rocky terrain and across rivers brings you to the base of the falls where you can reward yourself with a cool dip. A guide -200p- is required and shares interesting facts and stories about the falls and surrounding area. In addition a 30p environmental fee for each person is collected upon arrival.

Balete Tree -Millennium Tree-

Balete Park is situated at Barangay Quirino, Maria Aurora.

The park is highlighted by the towering 600 plus year old balete tree that was designated as the official “Millennium Tree” of The Philippines. It is the largest tree of its kind in Asia, and it would take more than 60 adults hand to hand to encircle its gigantic trunk. A minimal entrance fee is collected to help maintain the grounds.
